Santas suit up for the 10th annual bar tour

Carley Mossbrook, over at the Collegian, wrote this nice article providing the perspective of the Crawl that some of the downtown bar proprietors have.   Mike Desmond, of the Hotel State College Group (Allen Street Grill, Bill Pickle’s, Zeno’s, Indigo), JR Mangan (Cafe 210), and Dave Krauth (Rotelli) all contributed to the article.

I’d encourage any Crawlers who might run into Carley in her night job, she’s a server at the Phyrst, to thank her for this wonderful article.

And with less than 24 hours to go until the start of Santa Crawl X, let’s all keep in my that it’s being well-behaved that keeps us on the good side of the downtown merchants.  Party hard, but party responsibly.

  1. You’re prejudging us. The difference is that we behave responsibly. Another difference is that we raise money for charity.

  2. That’s one definition of “crawling”, here are some others that we believe fit better.

    from the Free Dictionary:

    intr.v. crawled, crawl·ing, crawls
    1. To move slowly on the hands and knees or by dragging the body along the ground; creep.
    2. To advance slowly, feebly, laboriously, or with frequent stops: We crawled along until we reached the open road.
    3. To proceed or act servilely.
    4. To be or feel as if swarming or covered with moving things: The accident scene was crawling with police officers. My flesh crawled in horror. See Synonyms at teem1.
    5. To swim the crawl.
    n.
    1. The action of moving slowly on the hands or knees or dragging the body along the ground.
    2. An extremely slow pace: Traffic was moving at a crawl.
    3. Sports A rapid swimming stroke consisting of alternating overarm strokes and a flutter kick.
    4. A set of letters or figures that move across, up, or down a movie or television screen, usually giving information, such as film credits or weather alerts.

We are “crawling” because of the pace and size of the group, not because we plan on being on our hands and knees.
