Ever heard of a Doggie’s Dozen?

Older generation Santa Crawlers are probably aware of the term Baker’s Dozen. Supposedly the expression comes from the 1600s when bakers would often include an extra loaf in bread orders of a dozen or more, ostensibly to avoid being accused of selling any underweight goods. It has evolved well outside of the baking world and is now, almost universally, used to mean thirteen.

What does this mean to the Santa Crawl?

Doggie’s Pub has been widely promoting their 12 Days at Doggies, a holiday promotion encouraging their patrons to visit the pub from Dec 2nd through Dec 13th.

I’m here to tell you that this is really a Baker’s Dozen. Day 13 will be the day of the Santa Crawl. Doggie’s will be one of the official 8 pm starting points for the Santa Crawl and I can assure you that the fun and games there will be as good or better than any one of the other dozen days (with a little cooperation from Mother Nature, we’ll even be able to celebrate in Doggie’s famed Beer Garden).

The longtime very popular State College band The Nightcrawlers will kick things into high gear when they take the stage at 10 pm.

Looking forward to catching them a bit on the 14th.
